One Month Old!

It's hard to believe, but little Tivis Cole has been in the world for one whole month. He weighs over 10 pounds now and looks around lots and even smiles a little now. He is a pleasure to his aunts and his grandparents!

Happy One Week Old, Tivis Cole!

You're the sweetest and we love you!

By the way, your Aunt Laura bought you that second outfit because she thought it would look so cute on you. And she was right.

We got a new puppy!

This one is a little less furry than our other puppies...

Tivis Cole Rucker Sheehan was born at 5:08pm on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at The University of Kentucky hospital in Lexington, Ky. He weighed 8 lbs and 13 oz and was 21 and a 1/4 inches long with loooong legs. He, mommy, and daddy are home now and adjusting very nicely to the new situation. He's cute as a bug and sweet as candy. Welcome to the wide, wide world, li'l bubs! You're much loved.

Backpackin' at the Park

Yesterday was so nice that some of the Puppiemill decided to visit the City Park in town. For the first time, we tried out Bu's first backpack. It's designed to hold water that expels itself from a hose on the side of the pack, and, of course, the whole thing straps to the dog's back. Well, I guess I should have bought the more expensive one at the PetSmart, because this one slid down her side no matter how tight we strapped it to her.

Despite all this, Bulu was the example of good behavior. She walked on the leash like a champ, despite the many distractions of the very busy park.

Her friends, Mollie and Nina, on the other paw, were terrible. Neither of them are used to walking on a leash, so they did not appreciate walking around the track and not being able to wander around to see the sights and sniff the smells. Nina kept biting her leash to be let off of it and Mollie pulled me the entire way. We got about a quarter of the way around the track before we decided to call it quits and head back to the farm.
p.s. Despite their bad behavior at the park, the puppies handled another experience yesterday quite well. They all three had baths! Mollie was the best she's ever been in all her six years. She didn't try to claw her way out of the tub, which is her usual course of action. Nina actually came from the bedroom into the bathroom and climbed into the tub without leading. She usually gets in the tub by herself, but she has never actually voluntarily entered the bathroom without a hand on her collar. And Bulu got into the tub on her own for the first time ever. Yay puppies!
Thus starts another season of warm weather duties--Fighting the fleas!

New Additions. Again.

We just can't help ourselves. When a dog needs a home, it's just hard to say no. When TWO dogs need a home, we just stumble over ourselves to get their beds ready and the toys assembled. Introducing Caleb and Oscar, who hail from over Three C Trail way. They are brothers, though you can hardly tell it from their looks. The mother is a Llewellen Setter but as to the father(s), your guess is as good as ours. Caleb is Kermit's boy and Oscar is Anna's baby. Leah and Laura just get the free cuddles from these precious babies.

Here is our rambunctious Caleb...

...and our pretty Oscar (or Woo-scer, as I've been calling him).

Bed Hogs

The Puppy Mill has posted a few lazy-babies-on-the-bed pictures, but who can resist these two sun-bathers?

...the only bath Bu likes to take.

Scootch over.

The Road Less Traveled

Getting home the last couple weeks has not been fun or easy. Without Laura's 4-wheel drive, we'd be sitting pretty at home instead of going to work (ok, maybe Laura should sell her SUV) on these snow days. It's been the worst winter, as far as ice and snow go, we've had since we bought the farm, but they are finally melting off, thanks to today's 60 degree weather.

Last week's snow and the puppies who loved it.

While we didn't love getting out in the snow, these pups sure did.

Charlie and Mollie are the two happiest dogs.

Bu loves a little free time.

No privacy here.

Some ice, ice, baby.

You're my best friend

In every room of the house, at least those with windows, Bulu always finds the spot where the sun shines in and keeps her toasty.

But there is another who covets this prime real estate.

They have discovered, however, another way to keep warm.
Compromise is good.
